Before installing (or re-installing) Kelkoo Sales Tracking with any method, make sure no older or conflicting version of the tracking code is still active on your website. Running multiple versions of the tracking code at the same time may result in duplicate or incorrect conversion tracking, and is a common cause of unexplained tracking issues after a fresh install.
What to look for
Search both your website's source code and your Google Tag Manager container (if you use one) for:
-
Any existing reference to
leadtag.js— the Lead Tag script. -
Any existing reference to
_kkstrack— the Conversion Tag object, whether set directly in your page source or inside a GTM Custom HTML tag.
If you're moving to Google Tag Manager
If Kelkoo Sales Tracking was previously installed manually (or via a plugin) and you're now switching to GTM:
-
Search your GTM container's tags for any existing
leadtag.jsreference and any tag referencing_kkstrack— for example a hand-built Custom HTML tag from a previous integration, rather than the official Kelkoo Group Sales Tracking Tag template — and delete them. -
Also check your website's source code directly (outside of GTM) for a manually installed Lead Tag or Conversion Tag left over from before you moved to GTM, and remove it.
If you're installing manually
-
Search your website's source code for
leadtag.jsand_kkstrack, and remove any version you find — including any left over from a previous plugin or platform-specific integration — before adding the new tags.
Why this matters
Leaving an old installation in place alongside a new one is a frequent cause of:
-
Duplicate sales being recorded for the same order.
-
Conflicting or unexpected values (e.g.
orderId/orderValueappearing undefined) when the tag fires, because two different scripts are competing to set them.
If you run into either of these symptoms after installing, check the Testing & Troubleshooting section.
